IFTA
IFTA software for owner-operators and small fleets
freightline puts your miles and gallons by state side by side for the quarter and works out taxable gallons, tax due, credit and net for each state. You export the worksheet to CSV and file from it with your base jurisdiction.

Miles by state
- Swift ELD: state miles come straight from the ELD’s GPS for each linked truck.
- Other ELDs or no ELD: freightline routes your delivered loads with Google and counts loaded plus deadhead miles by state. Loads that can’t be routed get a straight-line estimate, and the page tells you how many.
Gallons by state
Every company gets its own fuel import email. Forward fuel card invoices to it, or set a Gmail filter to do it for you. You can also import the fuel card’s CSV or upload a photo or PDF of a fuel report and review it before importing. Fuel import, step by step.
The quarterly report
- Opens on the quarter that’s due next; any other quarter is one click away.
- By jurisdiction: miles, taxable gallons, gallons bought, rate, tax due, credit and net.
- States with their own weight-distance tax are listed separately.
- Warnings when fleet MPG is below 4 or above 9, which usually means missing loads or fuel.
- CSV export with every state, totals, fleet MPG, the rate quarter used and where the miles came from.

What it doesn’t do
- It doesn’t file the return or pay the tax.
- ELD state miles come from Swift ELD only today; other ELDs use routed load miles.
- Weight-distance tax states are listed separately, but those returns aren’t filed for you either.
Frequently asked questions
Does freightline file my IFTA return?
No. It builds the per-state worksheet and a CSV. You check it against your fuel card and ELD reports and file with your base jurisdiction.
Where do the miles by state come from?
From Swift ELD's GPS for trucks linked to Swift ELD. With Motive, Samsara, TT ELD, EVO ELD or no ELD, miles come from Google routes of your delivered loads, loaded plus deadhead.
How do fuel purchases get in?
Forward fuel card invoices to your company's fuel import email address, import the fuel card's CSV, upload a PDF or photo of a fuel report, or add an entry by hand. Duplicates are skipped.
Which tax rates are used?
The selected quarter's diesel rates. If that quarter's rates aren't loaded yet, the closest quarter is used and the page and CSV say so, so verify the rates before you file.
Is there a free way to try the math?
Yes. The free IFTA calculator works without an account, and the IFTA rates page lists diesel rates by quarter.
