Connect your ELD to freightline
Connect Motive, Samsara, Swift ELD, TT ELD or EVO ELD to freightline with a read-only API key, and see which truck, driver and hours-of-service data is pulled.
Connecting your ELD puts every truck on freightline’s Live map with the driver on it and their hours of service, next to the load they’re running. Access is read-only, keys are encrypted at rest, and only the company owner can connect or change the ELD.
Supported ELDs and where to get the key
- Motive: Motive Dashboard → Admin → Developers → Create an API Key. Read access is enough.
- Samsara: Settings → API Tokens → Add, with read scopes for Vehicles, Vehicle Statistics, Drivers and HOS.
- Swift ELD: the portal doesn’t show API keys. Email Swift support from the account owner’s address and ask for one.
- TT ELD · EVO ELD: ELD portal → Settings → API Keys → Generate. Copy the key, the provider token (if shown) and the API host from the same page. You’ll also enter your USDOT number.
Motive without a key: if your account shows a Connect with Motive button under Settings → ELD, use it: you sign in at Motive, approve read-only access to Locations and HOS, and land back on the ELD page with the fleet syncing. The connection renews itself; removing the freightline app in Motive disconnects it. Otherwise paste an API key as below.
Steps
- Open Settings → ELD and click your provider.
- Paste the API key (and for TT ELD · EVO ELD, the provider token, API host and USDOT number).
- Press Connect & test. freightline calls the ELD once to check the key, then pulls the fleet. The card shows the provider, status and last sync.
- Make sure each truck under Trucks & trailers has its VIN and unit number. Units are matched by VIN first, then by unit number.
- Open Live map. Readings refresh when you open it; Sync now in Settings → ELD forces a refresh.
