Your loads, your documents, your data
Where freightline keeps your rate cons, PODs, driver pay and invoices, who can see them and how you take them with you.
Where your data lives
- Application hosting: Vercel.
- Database: Neon, a managed PostgreSQL service.
- Uploaded files (rate cons, BOLs, PODs, receipts, paystub and invoice PDFs): Vercel Blob storage.
The full list of service providers and what each one does is in the privacy policy.
Encryption
- In transit: every page and API call is served over HTTPS (TLS), and browsers are told to use HTTPS only (HSTS).
- At rest: the database and file storage are encrypted at rest by our providers, Neon and Vercel.
- ELD API keys are additionally encrypted inside our database with AES-256-GCM and are never shown back in full or written to logs.
How files are served
Inside the app, every document link goes through an authenticated download route. It checks that you are signed in, that the file belongs to your active company and that your role is allowed to see it, and only then streams the file. The storage address of the file itself is never sent to the browser.
When you share a paystub or an invoice with someone outside freightline (a driver on WhatsApp, a broker by email), the link is signed and expires after 30 days. It opens that one PDF and nothing else.
Accounts and sign-in
- Passwords are stored only as bcrypt hashes. Nobody, including us, can read your password.
- Repeated failed sign-ins are rate-limited per email and per network address.
- Changing or resetting your password signs out every other session. A disabled user is signed out on their next request.
Company isolation and roles
Every company’s data is kept apart in the application. Each request is tied to one company you are a member of, and the queries that read or change your data are limited to that company. When a form links a record to a truck, trailer or driver, those ids are checked to belong to your company first, so data can’t be attached to or shown inside another carrier’s account.
Inside your company, access follows the role you give each person:
- Owner: everything, including settings, users, billing and confidential (owner-only) documents such as drug and alcohol records.
- Dispatcher: loads, documents, drivers and trucks. No fuel costs, company expenses or driver paystubs.
- Accountant: loads, settlements, fuel, expenses and team pay. No company settings.
- Driver: only their own loads, their own documents and their own paystubs, from the phone.
Backups
The database has 7-day point-in-time recovery through Neon: it can be restored to any moment in the last seven days if something goes wrong.
Error monitoring
When something breaks on the server or in the app, we get an automatic alert by email. The alert carries the error and the page it happened on, never your request headers, cookies, form contents or query strings.
Payments
Subscriptions are paid through Stripe Checkout. Your card details go straight to Stripe and never touch our servers; we don’t see or store card numbers.
Integrations
- ELD (Motive, Samsara, Swift ELD, TT ELD, EVO ELD): read-only. We pull truck positions, the driver on each truck and hours of service. freightline never writes anything back to your ELD. How to connect
- AI document reading (rate cons, fuel reports, CDLs) is done by Anthropic. Your content isn’t used to train their models.
Your data is yours
- Export anytime. The owner can download everything in one ZIP from Settings → Data export: loads with every stop, brokers, drivers, trucks, trailers, invoices and line items, settlements with adjustments and deductions, expenses, fuel, maintenance and an index of every uploaded document. Reports & export also gives period CSVs, including a QuickBooks-ready file. Export stays open to the owner even if a trial ends or you cancel.
- Deletion on request. Email hello@freightline.app from the owner’s address and we delete your company’s data. It is removed from active systems; backups expire on their normal schedule.
Who is behind freightline
freightline was founded by Yurii Filonchuk, a former truck driver who went on to own a small trucking company in Florida. The software runs real trucks every day, so the loads, settlements and factoring packets in it are real business, not a demo. Questions about security or your data go to hello@freightline.app: email support, answered within one business day.
